Day 301… My adventure begins when I disembark the plane at sunny and humid Victoria Falls. At this point i have to kick myself as I have completely forgotten to bring cash with me for my Zimbabwe visa… however thankfully they are tiny enough to allow me to exit the airport to an atm… get cash out while i leave my passport with passport control… and return to sort it out. Phew! Then as I leave the airport again, I am greeted at the door (as are all visitors) with a welcome from a troop of tribal african male singer/dancers in full (faux) leopard skins. Brilliant stuff.
After I get a happy cabbie to get to my camping ground as this trip uis another camping trip. Here we get to meet more new people… my final new people on my final tour. Our campground is centrally located in the town of Victoria Falls, the perfect place to use as a base for the vast array of activities on offer in the area. The tents are decent and we get foam mattresses to sleep on so not too uncomfy, while transport looks like the bizarre offspring of a truck and a bus, with a little mobile home tossed in. The hawkers aren’t too annoying here and the locals are just lovely.
