Day 274… My adventure begins with a Welcome Meeting at 6pm on Day 1. But before we do… I hire after new private tour/driver/thingy guy to take me out into frost giant territory. First up, I need my glasses repaired, so we stop at affordable handy optometrists and after a repair job, I decide its time to actually see properly as opposed to squinting through specs that ,ook like they have been scratched up by Wolverine, so I buy new glasses after the repairs on the old. Then its time to head out to King Abdullah the 1st’s Mosque (aka the blue mosque), whuch is not only one of he few non-muslims can visit, but here was hardly a soul there so I got amazing pics! Also, interestingly, the head priest here prays each day into a microphone that gets broadcast over he radio and i to all Amman’s other mosques so that prayers can occur at the exact same time. After this and a mini museum with photos of the kings and a selection of lovely models of all the important mosques in this part of the world (including a micro Mecca), we drove through the rich and poor parts of town, over the Abdul Bridge, and over to the Citadel ruins with its amazing sweeping views of Amman, then a very quick explore of the Archaeological Museum before it closes at 2pm where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed. After a quick McLunch, we head at last to the Abu Darwish Mosque (aka the black and white mosque). This one u can’t go inside.
