Day 261… Rise and shine campers, today its off to visit the City Palace, one of the largest royal palaces in India, and check out the unbelievable treasures within – from vivid murals to antiques and royal utensils. This is one of the things I have always wanted to see since watching the movie Baraka… and until now (well… a week or so ago) i had always just assumed that it was the Taj Mahal. The glittering mirrored interior of this palace is not, obviously, the plain interior of the Taj… the glittering marvel i knew existed is in fact this palace. A wonderful twinkling example of human art. The only sad thing is that it is not bigger. That is… the palace is ago gargantuan building made to look like a giants ship on land… but the mirrored parts are only a few, not-allowed-to-enter rooms. Still, I am quite pleased to see it in person. Afterwards we join the famous Spice Box cooking school and spend a half day learning the secrets of Indian cuisine. With lessons on preparation and cooking, I’ll be able to whip up a full Indian meal in no time. After that i do a touch more shopping… then return to get my future read by a real indian palmist before dinner.
