Day 259… Heritage Stay… Rawla Jojawar
We leave Pushkar behind and travel to our Heritage Stay (approx. 4 hours). A small heritage property which is around 200 years old. It has been converted into a heritage hotel. The property is run by one of the local royal families of the region who take an interest in ensuring a comfortable stay. Gorgeous sumptuous rooms in a hotel that is still used by the Indian royal family on occasion, and i suspect my room is up there… upon group consensus… I lucked out with the best room by strides! We have a spectacular lunch, followed by a train ride through the mountains for the views and interact with locals and local kiddies. While we wait for the train to arrive (running on India Standard Time… or India Stretchy Time as the locals call it) we walk the village and even visit a guys low tech house. He loves photography and even has an old school developed film camera. Here we find out about the nene tree, which twigs are used for simple effective toothbrushes and the sap for soap. On the train itself, the local folks help us sit down and take photos, and even feed huge monkey’s that leap onto, around and INTO the train! Travel over some rickety bridge etc, then we are back to the swanky hotel for our meal… followed by a few rounds in my palatial suite of uno.
